Family Summer Fun Happens Indoors and Out at the New Kartrite Resort in the Catskills!

Kartrite Resort Catskills New York

Do you ever feel like you need a little getaway?  Need a change of scenery? Like the family needs some fresh air? That was exactly what I needed, and our family wanted to celebrate the end of school and the beginning of summer.  So where do you go?? Recently, I heard about a new indoor waterpark that was less than 3 hours driving distance away from home; The Kartrite Resort in Monticello New York.  It is 90 minutes from NYC, Connecticut, Northern NJ, and Pennsylvania.

What attracted us to The Kartrite you ask?  So much fun in one place; huge indoor waterpark with features for all ages, large family suites, in-resort dining, mountain lodge experience, outdoor adventures, and entertainment, to name a few!

We packed the car and headed off for our family adventure.  The Kartrite is a resort that has a terrific indoor state-of-the-art waterpark, indoor ziplining and rock climbing, arcade games, planned activities for kids throughout the day, and oversized games in the lobby area.  Outdoors they have firepits for s’mores, a climbing area, and a life-size chess board. It is a one-stop shop for the family.

Checking In

The Kartrite Resort NY

When we arrived, we had very friendly valets that parked our car for the weekend and a great bellman named Jonathan.  He told us that we arrived on movie night and told us all the happens that was in store for our two-night stay. The staff at the front desk checked us in and told us where everything was and off to our room we went.  There was a daily schedule of activities that included donut decorating, a scavenger hunt, water balloon fights, and movies. Some of these activities are an additional cost which is listed on the schedule next to the activity. They range for $1-$5.

Off to the Waterpark

Our first stop was the waterpark. My son could not wait.  The waterpark has several waterslides.  Depending on how daring you are there is the super big Nor’easter or the high-speed krakken which my daring seven-year-old and his dad went on, or the mini slides that were my speed. Whatever you fancy, there is one for you. My son loved them all and tried the FlowRider where he had the best instructors teach him how to ride the waves.  They had basketball games and lily ponds to cross and my sons favorite, Empire Bay. This was the not so lazy river. He loved it.

Some Sweet Treats

When we needed a sweet treat, we headed to Pops Sweet Shoppe for some gelato. They had so many yummy flavors. There are many restaurant options on the premises depending on what you like. We loved sitting by the firepits and making s’mores while my son climbed on the cool climbing structures.

Other Fun Activities

The Kartrite Video Games

We played pool, lots of video games, and he hit the buzzer at the top of the rock-climbing walls.  You can purchase a game card that will cover the costs of the games, zip lining, and rock climbing. The food is reasonably priced.  If you purchase a water bottle you can get free refills and bring it back the next time and continue to get your free refills. It’s a great deal.  The waterpark does offer a splash pass for the day if you just want to check out the waterpark for the day. There is a terrific area in the waterpark for little kids to play as well.  You can bring your own s’mores supplies or purchase them there for $5.

We had a great time!

We would definitely head back and are thinking of going in the fall or winter next time to get out of the cold.  This is a great all-in-one family adventure for a short getaway to the mountains.  To learn more about planning your trip, take a look at their website, https://www.thekartrite.com/indoor-water-park-resort/ to start to plan.  It is a great family getaway that we will look forward to doing again.
