How To See The Best of Atlanta on a Limited Budget

Atlanta is a great city in the heart of the American south with so many great things to see and do. Many people stop off in the city for connecting flights or business trips because it has one of the world’s busiest airports, but people often overlook it as a vacation destination. That’s a real shame because it’s a great city with all sorts of amazing attractions and you should definitely consider it next time you’re looking for somewhere to go away. The only problem with visiting Atlanta is that it can get fairly expensive. But it doesn’t have to be that way if you don’t want it to be.

Here’s how to visit Atlanta on a budget and still have a great time.

Budget Tips Atlanta

Pack A Lot Into Just A Few Days
It’s true that Atlanta has so much to offer that you could easily spend a week or more there without getting bored, but if you don’t have that much money, its best to go for a shorter trip. You can still see the best of Atlanta in a single day if you’re efficient with your sightseeing so a weekend trip is fine. You can just come back again in the future and see all of the other things that you missed out the first time around.

Best Ways To Get Around
If you’re getting cabs all over the place, you’ll end up spending a load of money on travel while you’re there. But there’s no need to do that really because the public transport links are great. There are a lot of cheap trains that go to and from the airport and around the entire city. It only costs around $9 for an unlimited days pass whereas you could spend even more than that on a single cab ride. The trains come regularly enough so you won’t be waiting around for that long.

Where To Stay
There are some great high end hotels for the people on business trips to stay in or for well-healed tourists, but there’s no need to spend loads of money on your accommodation. You’re going to be busy seeing all of the sights anyway so you might as well stay in a cheaper downtown Atlanta hotel. You’ll still have a nice place to stay with everything you need and you won’t be spending loads of money on a fancy place to stay.

Free or Low Cost Attractions
The easiest way to save money is by doing things that don’t cost you anything and Atlanta has plenty of those. You could visit the farmers market on Peachtree Road where you’ll find some great local produce, it’s on every Saturday morning from April to December.

The Centennial Olympic Park is a great place to visit in the summer as well and there’s even an aquarium there too.

If you’re looking for some great cultural attractions, head down to Castleberry Hill on the second Friday of the month when all of the venues down there are taken over by local artists.

Dream of millions of bucks – visit the Federal Reserve Bank Money Museum.  Also worth making time for is the Anne Frank Museum.

Light up your night by visiting Central Park for free movies and fireworks all summer long.

Visiting Atlanta doesn’t have to be expensive if you don’t want it to be and you can still have a great time.
