8 Exciting Ways To Get An Adrenaline Rush in Las Vegas

8 Ways to Get Your Adrenaline Rush in Las Vegas

Sin City is a cornucopia of titillating adventures, from the sights and sounds of the world-renowned shows to the savory scents wafting out of celebrity kitchens. Even if you’ve been living in or visiting Las Vegas for years, it’s OK to admit that you’re still mesmerized by the steady stream of exciting attractions. For all the buzz around the nightlife and the cha-ching of slot machines, there remain those quintessential Vegas experiences that dazzle the mind and exhilarate the senses.

If you’re looking for a thrill, here are 8 activities you must add to your bucket list.

1. Ride the Stratosphere Rollercoaster

Casino owners are always looking for innovative ways to make you scream, and the Stratosphere lays claim to some of the most exhilarating experiences on The Strip. Nearly 900 feet above South Las Vegas Boulevard, you can climb into the X-Scream roller coaster. The ride takes you literally over the edge – of the Stratosphere’s top level – before whipping you back toward the building. Have a go on the X-Scream when you need an adrenaline rush — it sure does the trick.

2. Sail Over the City in a Hot Air Balloon

Flying over the desert in and around Las Vegas is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. (Unless you love it so much you do it a second time, which will certainly be tempting.) During your flight, you’ll see the Red Rock Mountains and the twinkle of the sun bouncing off glass skyscrapers on The Strip. Enjoy a Champagne toast when you land.

3. Zipline Down Fremont Street

Downtown Las Vegas — otherwise known as Old Vegas — is home to some of the best things rarely mentioned about Las Vegas. To get a unique bird’s-eye view of this neighborhood’s charm, take a hurtling ride on a slot-machine themed zipline over Fremont Street, soaring above some of the city’s oldest casinos. Aptly named SlotZilla, this experience offers a “lower Zipline” which launches you from 77 feet in the air, or (for the truly daring among us) an “upper Zoomline” which starts at 114 feet above the ground. Yes, that’s more than 10 stories high.

4. Go Ice Skating in the Desert

Strap on your ice skates and practice your moves in the middle of the desert. Each winter, The Cosmopolitan erects an ice skating rink where you can go for a skate, though there is nary a snowflake around. This charming experience is perfect first-date material, but you can also enjoy it as a long-time Las Vegas resident who just wants to skate alone under the stars.

5. Test Drive a Lamborghini

The flashy nature of Vegas doesn’t begin and end with the sparkling lights atop casinos. It’s also a hotbed for all things extravagant – including cars. Exotics Racing lets you test drive some of the finest motors on the planet, letting you play with the toys of millionaires on a budget. Start the engine on a Lamborghini or Ferrari and feel the engine rev. A few circles around the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and you’ll swear you’re ready for the Indy 500.

6. Swim with Sharks at Mandalay Bay

If you’ve been to any aquarium, you’ve probably seen a shark… but have you ever fed one? Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef Aquarium offers you the opportunity to act as personal lunch server to their zebra sharks, stingrays, or sea turtles. If you really want to test the waters with some exotic ocean predators, you can suit up and dive into a tank filled with 1.3 million gallons of saltwater and over 30 species of shark. How brave are you feeling?

7. Ride the World’s Tallest Ferris Wheel

Las Vegas Ferris Wheel

This may not be the speediest ride in Vegas, but the views are sure to take your breath away. Las Vegas’ famous High Roller ferris wheel features glass-lined and temperature-controlled pods for guests to sit (or stand) comfortably during their ride. The Linq Hotel and Casino built a special communication system for this observation wheel, which stands taller than any other in the world. Sit in a transparent pod that gives you a 360-degree view of the city surrounding you, and gaze in awe as you roll up to 550 feet in the air.

8. Be Dazzled by Circus Acrobatics

It’s easy to take the live entertainment in Las Vegas for granted. Heck, Cirque du Soleil has been around for so long that you probably have it on your long-term to-do list, because you know the shows aren’t going anywhere. Still, buying your ticket for a high-flying, gasp-inducing combination of acrobatics and music is worth doing now. The spectacles rotate, from water-themed performances to Beatles-inspired productions, offering a unique experience at each show. Cirque du Soleil debuted their American show here in Vegas, so there’s no better place to see it stateside.

No matter how much time you’ve spent in Sin City, there is always something to knock your socks off just waiting to be discovered. If that sounds cliché – well, it’s just the truth! These must-do activities are just the beginning. From indoor skydiving to axe-throwing, the list of invigorating things to do in Vegas is always growing.  What is the one thing you think everyone should do in Vegas?
