Wouldn’t It Be Cool If They Banned All The Cars From Downtown L.A.?
Apparently I’m not the only one to think a day without massive traffic congestion and pollution in the middle of Los Angeles would be a good thing!
On Sunday, April 15th, L.A. will morph into the longest and largest street fair in the United States. More than 10 miles of downtown LA strets will be turned into a huge block party called CicLAvia from 10am until 3pm. This car-free, family safe party zone will welcome all to come and enjoy the sights and sounds of Los Angeles free-of-charge.
“There will be six hubs along the route, each situated in the heart of a unique neighborhood: the Bicycle District in East Hollywood; MacArthur Park; the African American Firefighter Museum on Central Avenue; the South Lawn of City Hall; El Pueblo de Los Angeles; and Hollenbeck Park in Boyle Heights.”, according to Ciclavia.org. Participants are invited to enjoy local culture, street performers, food trucks and lots of activities. Many will ride bicycles along the party route.
What a great way to meet some local folks and enjoy the spring weather!
