A Guide To The Most Loved London Antiques and Collectable Markets

London Antiques Market

I have always found the history that is connected to everyday objects to be quite fascinating. I love a good story and knowing the history behind the ornaments that I choose to decorate my home with. Since my fascination with antiques and collectables began to grow I started to travel around London in search for the best antique and collectable markets and through my journeys I came across these treasure troves:

St Stephen’s Rosslyn Hill, Hampstead

What could be more perfect than displaying a variety of antiques and collectables under the roof of the 19th Century French Gothic Church? Stallholders sell a broad range of collectables from vintage jewellery, advertising posters, designer and affordable fashion and retro furniture. Within the walls of St Stephen’s Rosslyn Hill you will also find a beauty parlour and a vintage tea room. So much can be uncovered here; I for one have found multiple treasures.

  • Entry: £3 adult, £2 NUS
  • Opening times: 11am – 4pm
  • Opening Dates: 23rd September, 18th November, 9th December
  • Address: St Stephen’s Rosslyn Hill, Pond Street, Hampstead, London, NW3 2PP

Royal Horticultural Hall Antiques Fair, Victoria
This is one of London’s most popular antique fairs and is known as Central London’s longest running fair. I have discovered a vast selection of good quality antiques and collectables here from paintworks and jewellery to rugs and silverware. What makes this fair so extraordinary for me is that you find antiques that are being sold by dealers from across Europe, offering collectors a stunning collection of antiques.

  • Entry: £4 adult, accompanied U16s free
  • Opening times: 10am – 4.30pm
  • Opening Dates: 2nd September, 14th October, 4th November, 9th December
  • Address: Royal Horticultural Hall Antiques Fair, Lindley Hall, Vincent Square, Victoria, SW1P 2PE

Alfies Antique Market, Marylebone
It is London’s largest indoor market and for 30 years Alfies has attracted many dealers, collectors, designers and celebrities. This is the place for you to visit if you’re a dedicated collector of vintage, 20th century design and fashion. With a bohemian atmosphere and a glorious array of antiques and collectables that are immaculately presented, Alfies is one indoor market you must visit. My advice to you is come here as soon as you can as Alfies will be closing its doors; however, it has not been confirmed when.

  • Opening times : 10am – 6pm Tuesday to Saturday
  • Address: Alfies Antique Market, 13-25 Church Street, Marylebone, London, NW8 8DT

Other antique and collectable markets that I have come across and believe should be mentioned in this piece include:

You may have noticed that the ever so popular and renowned markets such as Portobello Road, Brick Lane and Camden Passage have not been featured and that’s because I want to encourage people and collectors to explore other areas the capital has to offer you.  There are so many different markets and fairs to visit; you don’t need to travel to these densely populated areas that see millions of buyers every year.
