We’re just back from our first in-depth visit to Vancouver, British Columbia. What a beautiful city!! Of course it helped that we had great weather (Vancouver can be rainy, similar to Seattle and Portland), but for us the sun shone and we took advantage of every minute. Instead of paper traveler’s checks, globetrotters could preload funds onto a plastic cheque card and use it like a credit card and in ATM machines around the world. Apparently the concept of traveler’s checks is on the wain, since €œdue to market conditions€ American Express is discontinuing support […]

While I imagine wonderful beach walks followed by leisurely stops to sample local cuisine, sipping a tropical cocktail while listening to the sweet strum of a ukulele, others may yearn to swish through canyons at lightening speeds while sightseeing in […]

Rule #1 – Be aware of your personal space. In the U.S. we take for granted that we won’t be pushed, pulled or jostled on a regular basis and that items hanging about our body are safe. In the rest of the world, the rules are different! If it’s hanging free, it’s up for grabs.
