Unique natural beauty and traditional cultures define the Regions of Africa

Africa is a massive continent, made up of over fifty countries. There is a huge variety of things to do, from the more obvious choices such as a wildlife safari to visiting Cape Town and experiencing the sights and sounds of the city from the plateau at the top of Table Mountain. However, many visitors return to Africa as they become enthralled by the culture, traditions and the beautiful landscape. Visiting Africa is truly an amazing experience and one that you will remember for the rest if your life.  The following suggestions will help you to get the most out of any trip you plan:

Madagascar

Africa, Matagascar

Using a private car or going as part of a tour group is the most common way to explore Madagascar; however it is possible to explore this country as a backpacker.  This is a challenging but ultimately rewarding experience. The public transport infrastructure is limited but there is a selection of buses, taxis, rickshaws and, of course, feet! There are plenty of good hotels en route and always a hot rice dinner available.

Nairobi

This city in Kenya is often seen as a passing through place; however it has a rich cultural mix.  There are over forty tribes in Kenya and all of them are represented in the city; making a vibrant, bustling atmosphere. Kenya sits across the equator, making it one of the hottest places on earth.  It is also home to an abundance of wildlife, tribal culture, beaches, deserts and even mountains! In many ways Kenya is a miniature version of the entire African continent.

Nairobi National Park is just seven kilometers from Nairobi city center; it is a protected ecosystem home to animals, birds and fauna. It is like nothing else on the planet! The national museum in Nairobi is also well worth a visit; it will enlighten you as to the history of Kenya and the African continent.

Morocco

Africa, Morocco

There are a surprising number of eco-friendly activities in what is considered the gateway to Africa. Morocco is home to the Sahara, the High Atlas Mountains and even vast stretches of soft sand. You can start from one of the major cities and explore in almost any direction you like. You are guaranteed to have magnificent scenery!

Safari

No visit to Africa would be complete without a look at the huge array of wildlife. Africa is home to the big five; lions, leopards, buffalo, rhinos and elephants. It is also home to a diverse amount of flora and fauna as well as giant turtles, sharks and whales! Seeing animals as magnificent as these in their natural habitat is a truly awe inspiring experience.

Rwanda

Africa, Rwanda

Rwanda is the home of the Silver Back Gorilla, they can be found in the Parc National des Volcans which is very close to the Congo border. If you wish to enter the park and see the gorillas you will need to secure a permit from the Rwanda Tourist board; this will set you back $500. Permits are limited; there are no more than seventy two people allowed into the park on any one day. However, the cost is well worth it for the opportunity to spend time watching King Kong in action.

Mozambique

Africa, Mozambique

Mozambique is well worth a visit as you travel around Africa. It has some of the best beaches in the whole of Africa along with some fantastic scuba diving experiences. It has previously been described as a hidden treasure but more people are becoming aware of the natural beauty of this country. There are even plenty of uninhabited islands to visit where you can pretend you are the first person to set foot on them!

No matter what type of adventure you are looking for, Africa will have something for you. This culturally-diverse continent prides with a wealth of attractions, places of interest and adventurous travel spots. Whether you’d like to enjoy sheer luxury in South Africa’s Cape Town or you’d rather venture into the wild and head over to Nairobi, there’s no doubt that here you’ll find it all. Pack your bags and get ready for a memorable travel experience. Come meet the people of Africa and find out more about this amazing continent.
