Visiting Africa is truly an amazing experience and one that you will remember for the rest if your life.  The following suggestions will help you to get the most out of any trip you plan:

Madagascar

Africa, Matagascar

Using a private car or going as part of a tour group is the most common way to explore Madagascar; however it is possible to explore this country as a backpacker.  This is a challenging but ultimately rewarding experience. The public transport infrastructure is limited but there is a selection of buses, taxis, rickshaws and, of course, feet! There are plenty of good hotels en route and always a hot rice dinner available.

Nairobi

This city in Kenya is often seen as a passing through place; however it has a rich cultural mix.  There are over forty tribes in Kenya and all of them are represented in the city; making a vibrant, bustling atmosphere. Kenya sits across the equator, making it one of the hottest places on earth.  It is also home to an abundance of wildlife, tribal culture, beaches, deserts and even mountains! In many ways Kenya is a miniature version of the entire African continent.

Nairobi National Park is just seven kilometers from Nairobi city center; it is a protected ecosystem home to animals, birds and fauna. It is like nothing else on the planet! The national museum in Nairobi is also well worth a visit; it will enlighten you as to the history of Kenya and the African continent.

Seeing animals as magnificent as these in their natural habitat is a truly awe inspiring experience.

Rwanda

Rwanda is the home of the Silver Back Gorilla, they can be found in the Parc National des Volcans which is very close to the Congo border. Permits are limited; there are no more than seventy two people allowed into the park on any one day. However, the cost is well worth it for the opportunity to spend time watching King Kong in action.
