New Mobile Passport App Lets You Speed Through US Customs

Imagine never having to wait in long, long U.S. Custom lines again when returning to the United States from your international travels.  Yes, you could apply for Global Entry, pay the fees, have an interview and wait to be approved, or there may be a much easier way.  The new free Mobile Passport App streamlines the re-entry process and is a must-have app for US citizens who travel internationally.

This new app, which is authorized by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, is available for free at the Apple and Google app stores.  The app can be used by U.S. citizens and Canadian citizens who have either B1 or B2 Visa status.

Mobile Passport Control ReaderTravelers use the app to complete their Customs and Border control forms prior to landing and then submit the information with their smartphone via wifi or cell connectivity after landing.  After the information is received you will be sent a bar code authorization to scan at special kiosks.

Today two of the country’s busiest international airports, Atlanta and Miami, have installed special lines and kiosks to speed travelers with the app through the Customs and Border Control process.  You will still need to show your passport to a CBP officer, but your information will already be in the system.  Couples or families can register multiple profiles in the app and receive a bar code authorization for each traveler.
