5-Star Sophistication Comes To Jamaica At Last
“Fasten your seat belts we’re off to Jamaica!” Those were the words that solved the riddle of where we were heading on our Thrillist/JetBlue MysteryJet adventure. While a plane full of fresh-faced bloggers, writers and contest winners whooped and hollered (no really, were they ALL 23???), I wondered just what Jamaica would have in store for my seasoned tastes.
From the moment we arrived at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall Resort, I knew my worries were over. Before me stood a luxurious, sophisticated, elegant, 5-star resort that promised an exceptional experience. Pinch me…. is this really Jamaica-Mon? Iberostar is definitely going on my list of premier resort developers.
The entrance immediately relaxes the senses with soothing tones and a dramatic view threw to the ocean. Our room was an extra large suite-like accommodation with a dressing alcove, sleeping area, sitting room with a fully stocked complementary mini-bar, lush bathroom (robes, slippers, lotions) and patio complete with basket swing chair. Oh, and did I mention Sir Jeeves outside the door? Every guest enjoys the services of a personal butler as well as a helpful concierge desk in every wing. This is an all-inclusive, adults only resort that brings service to an unprecedented level.
There are three tiered cascading swimming pools with waterfalls and swim up bar, a gorgeous white sand beach with every water toy imaginable available for complementary use – catamarans, kayaks, windsurfers, snorkel equipment and dive lessons in the pool. Basketball, volleyball, archery, cycling – what’s your pleasure? It’s a beach cabana for me!!
Of course I paid an in-depth visit to the spa while Stewart took to the links at the Cinnamon Hill golf club. The golf course proved to be beautiful and challenging, and Camille the spa’s director was all about the healthful benefits of using coffee in treatments. If you are planning to visit the spa, I would recommend making an appointment with the Spa Director in advance to learn about all of the treatments and choose the ones you’ll enjoy the most.
Since we were on a quick weekend getaway, we didn’t get a chance to dine in the speciality restaurants, but they looked wonderful – Steak & Seafood, Italian, Euro Gourmet and Japanese. Guests of the Grand Rose Hall can also dine in any of the restaurants of the sister properties, Rose Hall Suites and Rose Hall Beach.
All in all we were overwhelmingly impressed! I now think of Jamaica in a whole new way – sophisticed, elegant, indulgent! What’s the best way to price a vacation at the Iberostar Rose Hall? I’d turn to Apple Vacations, Funjet, GoGo, and your local travel agent.
