Here’s a simple way to always be prepared to remove lint from your favorite black outfit while traveling. Pack a few of the stick-on clear shipping windows that you find at FedEx, UPS or USPS locations. When you need a lint remover, slip your hand inside the window and peal off the paper protecting the sticky surface and Presto – a handy lint remover. Slap yourself silly and go!
The Cheapest Week To Travel
November 18, 2008 by Susan · 2 Comments
Without a doubt the least expensive weeks of the year to travel are the first two weeks in January. Why?… everyone is so stressed out from the holidays, that they can’t even think about packing. If you get your holiday’s under control early this year and plan to skip out the door right after New Years, you can often save HALF the cost of the same trip a week before. And for a bonus, the first two weeks in January are some of the coldest weeks of the winter, so unless you’re planning to ski, that’s a great time to be Gone, Baby, Gone!

Pack your picnic basket and take a hike to Ram Head on the Southeast side of the island to watch the sunset. Start at Salt Pond Bay and wind your way to the rocky outreach stretching 200 feet above the crashing surf. The blazing sun will set on your right as the full moon rises on the left. Bring a flashlight for your walk back and then head into town to rock out at one of the island’s traditional full-moon parties.

November 13, 2008 by Susan · Comments Off
“I want to vacation someplace where it’s HOT this winter, where should I go?” How many times have I been asked this question? – more than I can count! Well, there’s finally a great website that answers – Where’s Hot When – or even warm or rainy, all in a brightly colored topo map. (Oh yeah, and that’s me in the picture soaking up the rays – Don’t I wish!)
Have a look at the world weather map at WorldReviewer.com. You’ll find a color coded map of the world showing just where it’s bathing suit weather. You can click through the months of the year to show, for instance, where it will be hot in February. And while you may have thought all of South America was a delight in the winter, you will clearly see by the color coding that much of the country is in fact rainy during February – good to know! There are also lots of great holiday ideas on the page as well, so have a look around this terrific site.

The daydream of surviving on a gorgeous desert island looms large in most of our imaginations. Let’s face it, that’s why Survivor, Robinson Crusoe and the current CDW Computer TV commercials are such an enormous success. But while the TV networks tempt us with scripted tropical adventures, the possibility of participating in such a complete immersion into the wild, remains just a pipe dream for most of us just eking out a living on a 9-5 schedule. Well here’s your BIG CHANCE to break out of your rut, go totally native, and live with your “Tribe” on a beautiful Fijian island, for a week, two weeks, a month or longer.
Let me introduce you to TribeWanted. The imaginative developers of Tribe Wanted along with a local Fijian team are developing a cross-cultural community from scratch. The new island community of Vorovoro is fusing traditional Fijian customs with ways of living for sustainability and with innovation to improve life and living conditions in remote Fijian villages. Where, Oh Where, Has Saga Tours Gone???
There was a time not so long ago when hundreds of joyful retired US couples packed their bags and flew off to the breezy coasts of southern Europe for the winter season with the low cost tour operator Saga Holidays. They were KING of the long term condo rental market on the Costa del Sol Spain in particular. But all of a sudden poof they were gone. 800 number no longer answered, no glossy brochures, no low low winter rentals – bummer!
But hope is at hand…. while visiting a website based in the UK, low and behold – there they were – an ad for Sage Holidays – alive and well and still offering fabulous prices to the over 50 set! Turns out that while they ceased operations in the United States, they have continued to offer their tour products in the UK which is their headquarters.
Check out their website at http://www.saga.co.uk. Their ‘Special Offers’ section is full of wonderful winter offerings for Europe and well beyond – and most properties are quoted on an all inclusive basis. You’ll find the site is filled with tons of interesting travel options. Just remember, you’ll need to do a bit of mental adjustments in regards to the pricing, as all the quotes are in British pounds. (The easiest way to do a quick conversion is to type “____GBP in USD” in the Google search window.)
It’s nice to see an old friend again!
