Savannah GeorgiaIf you haven’t visited Savannah in the springtime, WHAT are your waiting for?? While this sultry city welcomes sightseers all year round, the months of March, April and May are especially enchanting. Take a fragrant walk through winding brick pathways and magnificent parks to bring back glimpses of southern living in all its glory. With the warm breezes of spring, Savannah puts on it’s finery. Magnolia lined streets and wisteria lanes beckon you to take a carriage ride through history. Explore Savannah’s 21 historic squares, retrace the steps of Forest Gump or investigate the intrigues of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

I love the slogan on the Tourist Bureau site “We’re more friendly than formal in Savannah”. You have only to think of Paula Dean’s infectious laugh to realize that the folks in Savannah know how to have a good time. Go to Savannah if you love good food, great music, fascinating tales of the past, historic architecture, an active waterfront and memorable golf. I personally love to hang out on a balcony restaurant along River Street and watch the personalities wander by. Just give me a cold mug of beer and a plate of freshly fried seafood and let me watch the riverboats chug by – perfect.

Spring also brings plenty of festivals to the city. The Music Festival runs from March 20th until April 5th, the Garden and Antiques Expo operates April 4 – 6, and you can stop for afternoon Tea in the Mrs. Davenport’s garden from May 1-29.

There are lots of great tours to check out on the Savannah Tourist Bureau site – including, Haunted Ghost Tours, Walking Tours, Culinary Adventures, Pub Crawls and of course a visit to Lady & Sons. Savannah makes a wonderful destination for a romantic interlude or a girlfriend getaway.
